Devoted to Industrial Design

Alain is an industrial designer specialising in concept-driven design for technically complex products. With formal training in transportation (automotive) design, he brings an acute sensitivity to proportion, surface quality, and human factors — disciplines where visual coherence and curvature continuity are critical, not optional. His work focuses on defining a clear and inspiring design vision early in the development process, before constraints harden and intent is diluted. He works primarily through sketching, conceptual exploration and immersive tools to shape what a product should be, then collaborates closely with mechanical engineering teams to realise that vision with precision and integrity. He believes beauty has a function: it communicates clarity, care and quality, and creates products that people instinctively understand, trust, and want to use.

Alain's journey into the global freelance industrial design market began with seven years of dedicated study, laying the groundwork for his design expertise. After earning his Bachelor of Design degree in 2004 from Auckland, New Zealand, he pursued two years of post-graduate studies in transport design in Germany, where he became the first New Zealander to study transportation design at Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences. His formative years included a pivotal internship at Audi-Lamborghini in 2008, where he contributed to projects in exterior design and design strategy.

Following his academic pursuits, Alain's professional path led him to Switzerland, where he co-founded Designwerk Technologies AG, specialising in electric vehicle development. He then ventured to Italy, collaborating with leading product design companies on projects for renowned brands such as Scott, TechnoAlpin, Microtec, and Salewa.

Alain's journey is defined by continual growth, refining his craft with each project. Based on Waiheke Island, New Zealand, he channels his extensive experience into crafting exceptional product and vehicle designs for clients like Blunt Umbrellas, Gibbs Amphibians, Vessev Boats, Manta5 and Zemtec EV Buses
